Lagunilla Sacakani at 4450 m.

This small lake lies along the road between Arequipa and Juliaca. You can see the Chilean Flamingo here all the year and sometimes Andean Avocet is also present. Here are some other birds from this lake (20.08.08).

Mountain Caracara
Baird's Sandpiper
Puna Plover

Birds from Moho, Lake Titicaca

During a trip to Moho 1-4.09.08 I observed among others more than 100 Titicaca Grebes. It seems to be easy to count these birds at this time of the year. I have earlier posted photos of Titicaca Grebe, and here I post pictures of some other birds seen in Moho. All of them are quite common species. Above: Chiguanco Thrush.
Peruvian Sierra-Finch

Plain-colored Seedeater
Spot-winged Pigeon
Black-crowned Night-Heron

Ground-Tyrants (again)

Last year I posted several times pictures of Ground-Tyrants. They are not always easy to indentify. Here I post pictures of two species from Moho at the shores of Lake Titicaca. It makes it easy to compare these two species. The pictures are taken 1-3.09.08

Rufous-naped Ground-Tyrant
